At some point in time someone decided to try prairie dog hunting and look for an easy way out. They decided they would drive on the prairie dog town to try and get up closer to make shorter shots and fellows that has totally destroyed a lot of great dog towns in Montana, South Dakota, Wyoming and Texas.
And at some point in this Country we also decided there is ten thousand ways to do things instead of doing things with consideration of what might be sort of proper procedure. Now wait a min, I am not saying you have to do it my way, I am just simply stating FOR BETTER results you should try long range shooting.
Just simply understand, if you want to impress your hunting buddies, your friends down at the gun shop and be the center of attention when rifle shooting is brought up study and learn how to hit small target at a further distance than anyone you know. Last but not least (and most importantly), impress yourself!
Come on fellows, everyone wants to impress their friends and family. No one is super impressed with a short shot, NO ONE! Take a rifle and make a shot at 400 and then people open their eyes, make a shot at 600 yards and watch people gasp at the feat done.
If we depended for our Counter~Snipers in the wars to make close shots, we would be bury a lot more men!
Look you spend a lot of money building a new rifle, or simply buying one off the shelf and getting it set up correctly, why spend the money it takes to do that if you are simply going to try and get close shots? Why not challenge yourself and be a real shooter and be all you can!
I can assure you, over the years I swear I see more misses on close shots at 100 way more than I do Misses at 500! Reason? Simply because you know when you lay your head down on the stock that more than likely you will make the short shot, simply because after all who misses the short shot? (Laughing) a whole lot of people! When you take a challenge of 500 yards, you have to apply yourself and that my friend is why we have counter snipers in our wars being successful at shot over 1,200 yards by "yearning" to understand long range tactics. Don't be an average shooter, be all you can be, work on longer shots and see what it feels like to have other folks brag on you.
