Hunting Prairie Dogs In Drought Times

As these drier times persist, with no available rain in the forecast, prairie dog hunters will learn very fast that the hunting truly slows down.
When these times happen, dogs eat less at each feeding and only feed a short time and head back into their dens. This is evident especially when it gets very windy on dry days. Prairie dogs do not like the wind any more than you and I and retire to a comfortable 5 feet down and a 16 to 18 foot hole, where it's 65 to 68 degrees year around.
Your days will be spent, searching out the dog town for shots and barrels will heat up very fast so watch those primers!!
