Second Pup Litters - Fact or Myth?
Jun. 02, 2011About The Second Pup Litter - For several years now I have known about the "second litter" of prairie dogs in my home state of Texas. I can only tell you that when you grab up a set of Binoculars on April 15th of nearly every year like clock work, there is your first litter of pups.
There are about as many prairie dog hunters now as there are fleas on thousand dogs. That figure is more likely correct because our numbers grow so fast. There is a strategy I have used for over 47 years that is a Non fail system I use and I swear it will work in Montana or anywhere for that matter.

If you will hold off the jackrabbit call until it starts getting cold in November and December and take a fresh killed jack rabbit out of the freeze and gut him, and hang him up, right before calling, then you have the odor of fresh rabbit and the "sound" and coyotes will drop their guard to get a bite.
