DOW Extends Prairie Dog Comment Period

The Colorado Division of Wildlife (DOW) has extended the time period for submitting comments on the "Colorado Gunnison's and White-tailed Prairie Dog Conservation Plan." Comments from the public will be accepted through Jan. 5, 2009.

Prairie Dog Meeting Set for Alamosa - Jan. 10, 2011
ALAMOSA, Colo. -- The Colorado Division of Wildlife will hold a public meeting to provide an update about ongoing work in the San Luis Valley for the conservation of the Gunnison's prairie dog. The meeting is scheduled for Jan. 19 from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the Inn of the Rio Grande in Alamosa. The Inn of the Rio Grande is located at 333 Santa Fe Avenue, also known as Colo. Highway 160.

Prairie Dog Meeting in Gunnison - Oct. 22, 2010
GUNNISON, Colo. -- The Colorado Division of Wildlife will hold a meeting to discuss issues regarding the Gunnison's prairie dog, 9 a.m.-noon, Nov. 3, at the multi-purpose room at the Gunnison County Fairgrounds.

San Luis Valley Workshop to Address Prairie Dog Conservation - Jul. 11, 2009
ALAMOSA, Colo. -- Conservation of prairie dogs in the San Luis Valley will be the subject of a one-day workshop in Alamosa on Aug 18. The workshop, organized by the Colorado Division of Wildlife, is an early step in planning for conservation of the Gunnison's and white-tailed prairie dogs in western and southern Colorado.

Draft Prairie Dog Conservation Plan Released by DOW - Sep. 10, 2008
The Colorado Division of Wildlife (DOW) has released for public review its draft conservation plan for the white-tailed and Gunnison's prairie dogs. This plan, when final, will be used as a guide to maintain these two species on native range on both public and private lands in Colorado.

Colorado Prairie Dog Hunting Ban Defeated - May. 02, 2008
Last week's meeting of the Colorado Wildlife Commission in Junction City, a proposed ban on prairie dog hunting was defeated by a 9 to 0 vote ensuring that the necessary hunting of these animals can continue.
